Anybody notice how iTunes has gone really browser based?
It used to be that any time you wanted to stream a song you had to open the iTunes player. But now iTunes enables you to listen within the Internet browser.
This is a cosmic shift in digital strategy.
It suggests that the next step for Apple will be to enable purchasing from the browser, an experience just like Amazon MP3 or it's new acquisition, LaLa.
It also gives Apple a leg up for people who want to link to iTunes product. It's all in the metadata.
Apple is always one to adapt it's model to the times while keeping an iota of exclusivity. The shift to browser music is certainly something to watch.
