But with the emergence of cloud computing I wish Apple would build a browser based music library so I could do three things:
(1) Access my music database from anywhere Internet connected
(2) Share my music streams via URL with the public
(3) Easily send recommended playlists to friends
New music service Spotify may meet my desires above. However, it's more important that I be able to stream my existing music library rather than something that's new.
The main reason iTunes remains a separate application is so it can dictate your consumption and listening behaviors. iTunes wants to keep the consumer in its walled world.
But if Apple were to open its jukebox as a browser I would use it even more, in my car, at work, anywhere that's wi-fi accessible.
Apple has a major music announcement in the next few days. Sources say it's going to be a major announcement on the Beatles catalog but I hope a browser based jukebox will be a part of it.
